Finding your way around the dashboard

The Assist dashboard is where your team monitors the chatbot. This article is a short tour of the main sections and what each one is for.

![The Assist dashboard as it appears on sign-in, showing a single chatbot's Report page with the navigation menu down the left side](https://assist.knowledge.civ.io/storage/JG0w5JwNvkj0pZr7fInztxEFivtlR5FO5peLiATr.png)

Signing in
----------

Sign in with the email address and password set up for you. If you have not been given an account, or you have forgotten your password, contact your Civio representative.

Most people have access to a single chatbot, so signing in takes you straight to that bot's **Report** page and every section in the menu applies to it. If you have access to more than one, an **All chatbots** entry appears at the top of the menu for switching between them.

The main sections
-----------------

The menu groups the sections under **Activity**, **Manage** and **Knowledge base**.

- **Report** is the reporting home page, built from widgets showing conversation volume, quality and performance. See [Your reporting dashboard at a glance](/articles/reporting-dashboard-overview).
- **Conversations** lists every conversation your chatbot has had, and lets you open any thread in full. See [Finding a conversation](/articles/finding-a-conversation).
- **Feedback** collects the ratings and comments users have left on individual answers. See [Rating an answer: likes, dislikes and comments](/articles/rating-an-answer-feedback).
- **Bot preview** is where you test your chatbot, covered below.
- **Chat availability** controls whether the chat is live on your website. See [Turning your chatbot on, off or into maintenance mode](/articles/chat-availability).
- **Additional knowledge** is where you propose information the chatbot is missing. See [Creating an additional knowledge entry](/articles/manual-context).

Bot preview
-----------

**Bot preview** is where you test your chatbot. It runs the same chat window your users get, answering from the same knowledge base and applying the same guardrails, so what you see here is what a user would see.

Open **Bot preview** from the menu and the chat window opens on the right, ready for a question. Ask it what a user would ask. It is the quickest way to check how the bot handles a particular question, or to confirm a knowledge base update has taken effect.

Each answer carries the same controls as on your live site. **References** lists the pages the answer was drawn from, and the like and dislike buttons record feedback. See [How the assistant answers questions](/articles/how-the-assistant-answers-questions).

Conversations you have in **Bot preview** are saved like any other, so they appear in **Conversations** and count towards the figures on **Report**.

The menu only shows what your role has access to, so your view may differ from a colleague's. If something described here is missing for you, check [Your role and what you can do](/articles/roles-and-permissions).
