 How the chat window is branded

The chat widget can be styled so it looks like part of your website rather than a bolted-on tool. This article covers what can be changed and how to request it.

The window design
-----------------

The chat window comes in two designs, **Classic** and **Nova**. Both answer from the same knowledge base and both carry the branding described below. Nova adds a search tab and a set of reading controls for users, and it can use any of the three launcher designs.

What can be changed
-------------------

**The launcher button** is the button users select to open the chat, and it comes in three designs: **Dock**, a wide bar with a label on the bottom edge; **Orb**, a round icon button in the corner; and **Rail**, an upright tab down the right edge. Classic uses Dock, and Nova can use any of the three. The icon, the label, and the logo shown on the launcher can all be set.

**The chat window** can carry your logo, and the chatbot itself can have an avatar image.

**Names.** The display name shown at the top of the window and the name the chatbot goes by in conversation can both be set. Many organisations give the bot a short, friendly name.

**Colours.** A colour theme is applied so the widget matches your brand palette.

**The greeting.** The first message users see when they open the chat is configurable. A good greeting says who the bot is and gives an example of what to ask.

How to request a change
-----------------------

These are all configured by the Civio team on request rather than being settings in your dashboard. Contact your Civio representative and send:

- Your brand colours as hex codes.
- Logo and avatar files, ideally as SVG or high-resolution PNG with a transparent background.
- The exact wording for the launcher label, display name, bot name and greeting message.

Send approved wording and final artwork in one go to facilitate the process.

A note on accessibility
-----------------------

Colour choices affect readability. If your brand palette is low contrast, ask the Civio team to check the combination meets accessibility guidelines before it goes live, and be prepared to use a darker or lighter variant of your brand colour in the widget.
